Charities we support at Holy Family
We have a very active Cafod group here at Holy Family School. We try to meet every week and talk about how we can promote the work of Cafod and also to raise funds.
In October we held a Brighten up for Harvest day when all the children and staff wore bright clothes and gave a donation. We had a very enjoyable day and managed to raise £146.21!
Our dancers in KS2 attended the Cafod Advent Service at St Anthony’s church along with all of the other Catholic primary schools in the area. Our theme was “Stay awake” and the children’s movement enabled the congregation to reflect on the true meaning of Advent. Many people said that this was both spiritual and meaningful.
Mission Together is the Pope's official children's charity for overseas mission. Previously known as Holy Childhood, Mission Together has been working in Catholic schools and parishes worldwide since 1843, encouraging children to pray, fundraise and become missionaries themselves - children helping children.
Christmas Mission Together Tree
During Advent we have made our own decorations for our school tree including:
Stars of Hope - to help remember children who are in need of our help this Christmas.
Peace Paperchains - the children have written a prayer for peace.
Joyful Angels – The children thought about how the angels brought good news to Mary and the Shepherds and how we too can bring good news to others.
