Holy Family children have been taking part in British Science Week 2022.

British Science week runs from 11th -20th March 2022 and is a celebration of British Science, Technology and Engineering. Key stage 2 children have enjoyed taking part in a shared investigation called 'Rocket Mice'. Each year group followed different lines of enquiry and showcased their investigation skills including selecting equipment, devising a method, fair testing, controlling variables and finally recording results and interpreting their findings .Early Years and Key Stage 1 children chose to follow activities which followed the theme of 'Growth'

Here is what some year 6 children had to say about their investigation:

"Josh and I  decided to investigate whether the weight of the mouse impacted the distance that it would travel. We found that there wasn't much difference but we think that this was because the weight difference between them was only small. Next time we would make a bigger difference between the weight of each mouse and also maybe not test on a windy day as this might have affected our results. We found the investigation fun and a cool topic for Science week."  Kuba Year 6

"Me and Lewis investigated whether the shape of the mouse matters. We found that the shape which travelled furthest was the triangular shape. The one which travelled the least far was the cube shaped one. I think there was more air resistance to slow it down. Jack Year 6

Me and Julia decided to investigate whether the size of the bottle affected the distance the mouse travelled. We found that the bigger the bottle, the further the mouse goes. This is because the bigger the bottle, the more air it has inside and the the more air to push it, the further the mouse went. Olivia F  Year 6
