To celebrate Science Week in Year 2 we explored connections between animals and their habitats. We constructed food webs thinking about what animals consume and how different animals could be part of a web of food chains.

We then explored less obvious connections between animals. e.g the midge (a famous Scottish creature) does not directly eat larger creatures but it can suck on their blood! Anyone who has been to Scotland can testify to the bites that begin the extraction process!

We also looked at the important connections between bees and humans. We discussed how honey bees are the only insects that make food that is harvested by humans.
